Breakfast with the former Mayor of the city of San Antonio, Texas, Edward Garza
The breakfast was programmed to exchange opinions about policies of economic, urban and human development that would be due to apply in the cities.
Mr. Edward D. Garza was reelected Mayor of San Antonio the 3 of May of 2003 until the 17 of June of 2005, after carried out in the same position two previous periods and worked previously as a Representative of District 7 in the Municipality of San Antonio.
In the encounter, made the 6 of July of 2005 in the University of Enterprise and Socials Sciences (UCES), the participants talked about different thematic oriented to "Urban Development" and emphasized the necessity to develop a "governing strategic plan", ' thought to the long term.
Between the discussed points were: the expansion of the industries of high technology; the development of an expert manual labor well paid; the revitalización of the oldest Neighbours and the commercial areas; the creation of new economic generators that endorse a balanced growth and the necessity to disperse the people to avoid the conglomeration.
In addition, he insisted on the concept of "public function for something", that is to say, to engage the civil employees and the citizens to participate in an integrating process of policies development with the objective of improving the results, for example in the quality of life of the inhabitants of a certain area.
