"The U.S. Presidential Candidates and their Perspectives"
On September 24 the Embassy, with the colaboration of the Argentine American Dialogue, held a digital video conference on “The U.S. Presidential Candidates and their Perspectives” with a presentation by Mr. Raúl “Danny” Vargas, chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly.
Prior to his current position, Danny worked in intelligence for the Air Force for seven years and later continued as an intelligence expert for a government contractor. In 2004, he started VARCom Solutions, a company that provides businesses with marketing, sales and communications services. He was also vice president of Latin America for America Online (AOL), and helped U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) start his own Hispanic Advisory Committee. He is now the chairman of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce (where he become the first Hispanic to lead the chamber in the history of Virginia).
Mr. Vargas briefed the participants about aspects of U.S. foreign policy towards Latin America, immigration, Middle East, economic and health policies, among many other important subjects. Mr. Vargas also spoke specifically of the important influence the Hispanic community is playing on the political framework and future role of the US in the Latin American region.
After the general introduction by Mr. Vargas, there was a very active Q&A session with the audience in Buenos Aires, composed of more than 70 people, including diplomats, politicians, academics, leaders of civil organizations and journalists.
