"The Judicial System, the roll of the Judge and the right to the privacy"
Closing the year, the 11 and 15 of December we develop two activities with the presence of important speakers and specialists.
The first one was a lunch at the American Club, where we shared and exchanged opinions and experiences between specialists in issues of privacy, juridical security, and law in general; and the second was a meeting with Dr. Atilio Alterini, Dean of the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where we explore different possible programs to develop between the UBA and University of Florida.
Judge Peter Messitte, and Dr. Jon L. Mills were the speakers during this program.
District Judge (Maryland District) Peter J. Messitte was a member of the International Judicial Relations Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States between 1997 and 2003, where he chaired the Working Group for Latin America and the Caribbean. He has served as a consultant on judicial reform projects throughout Latin America and Africa, and most recently in Turkey.
Dr. Mills is Dean Emeritus, Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Governmental Responsibility of the University of Florida (UF). Also Chair of the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Privacy and Court Records. He was Speaker of the House (1987-88), of the Florida House of Representatives (1978 - 88), Member of the Advisory Commission to the World Justice Project (American Bar Association), and has been recognized as one of the best lawyers of Florida for many years.
Both have an ambitious project between United States and different states of our region, including Argentina. For that reason, 2009 will have our Foundation collaborating with them in activities that will be developed here and in the United States.
