"Human Rights and the Foreign Policy of the Obama Administration"

Last 10th of November our organization, at CARI and thanks to the American Embassy, carried out a lecture with David Rieff as the main speaker.

David is the author of seven previous books on immigration, international conflict, and humanitarianism, and also one about his mother's (Susan Sontag) final experience of cancer.

He's been a literary editor, a journalist and is now a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute at the New School for Social Research, a fellow at the New York Institute for the Humanities at New York University, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a board member of the Arms Division of Human Rights Watch and a board member of the Central Eurasia Project of the Open Society Institute. He also reported from Iraq for the New York Times Magazine.

In the last decade, Rieff has been one of the most engaging observers of war and humanitarian emergencies in such troubled places as Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

He held a lively dialogue with students, diplomats, academics and other experts in the field of human rights.
