"Key Components of an energy security policy in emerging countries"

The 14 and 15 of July we counted with the valuable participation of professor Daniel Kammen in two activities organized by our foundation.

Dr. Kammen is adviser of the Obama Administration in issues of climate change, co-director of the Institute of Environment of Berkeley and a coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.

"Regimes and policies on greenhouse control in the USA and their legal aspects"

Friday 25 of June our Foundation organized a lunch with specialists in environmental and energy issues, with the presence of Dr. Luis Martinez, member of the executive committee of the New York State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section and co-chair of the Environmental Justice Committee.

Between the subjects that were boarded, several of them from a legal approach, we can mention: control of greenhouse effect gases (at state and federal level, and the interaction between both levels), especially focused in the experience of Martinez with the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI, the first obligatory effort in the USA, based on the market, to reduce emissions) and other federal initiatives.

"Civil Military Relations in a Democracy"

As much for Tuesday 13 as Thursday 15 of April the Dialogue developed activities with the presence of the Dr. Thomas Bruneau and the General Major (Ret.) of the USAF, Dr. Richard B. Goetze; both of the Center for the Civil Military Relations in Monterrey, California.

They spoke about: A New Approach on the civic-military relations; Rolls, Functions, and Institutions of a Ministry of National Defense; The necessity to count with Effective Armed Forces; Main and Subsidiary missions of the military in a Democracy; etc.

"The cultural affirmation of the Afro-American populations"

The 24 of February of 2010, our foundation collaborated in the organization and development of a videoconference on the African influence in the United States, Latin America and Argentina.

The exposition was in charge of Dr. Ana Lucia Araujo, Professor of History of the Howard University, and counted with an ample presence of leaders and representatives of the afroargentina community.


"Afghanistan, Pakistan and Middle East: the Challenges of the Foreign Policy of the Obama Administration"

The 9th of December of 2009 we developed a couple of activities with Dr. Marco Vicenzino, director of the Global Strategy Project (GSP) and chief strategic advisor of the Afghanistan World Foundation.

He covers numerous areas including international conflict and security issues, US foreign policy, terrorism, transatlantic relations, the Middle East, Latin America and the emerging geopolitical role of Asian powers in a globalized world.

Tuesday 10 of November was the day when we had the opportunity to organize a meeting with David Rieff, specialist in immigration, international conflict, and humanitarianism.

We share many opinions, doubts and experiences around the world-wide situation of the human rights and the possible positioning of the Obama administration related to this thematic.

"The Foreign Policy of the Obama Administration: Strategic Challenges and the Situation in the Middle East"

Last 4 and 5 of November our Foundation developed several activities within a program that had as speaker Dr. Jonathan Adelman, professor of the Graduated School in International Studies at the University of Denver.

We visited the Association of Leaders of Companies, the CARI, the Tesa Foundation and also we carried out an encounter at the American Club.

Alternative Energies, Environment and Climate Change

Our Foundation is pleased to announce that, along with TESA Foundation, organized a program on environmental issues that was developed in Washington, Springfield, Des Moines and Austin.
With the endorsement of the Embassy and the State Department of the USA, we head an important delegation of officers, academics, consultants and specialists in these subjects; that had the opportunity to develop an important agenda in the United States.

Obama Delivers State of Union Address

The U.S. Constitution requires that the president report to Congress "from time to time" on the "State of the Union." This constitutional requirement has evolved into the president's annual State of the Union address, which now serves several purposes. The speech reports on the condition of the United States both domestically and internationally, recommends a legislative agenda for the coming year and gives the president the opportunity to convey personally his vision for the nation.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POLITICS

The Argentine American Dialogue is developing a series of meetings destined to analyze different aspects of the national and international reality.

In the first encounters we counted with the exposition of the journalist Nelson Castro, the former vice-president candidate Jorge Asís, the former national representative Raúl Baglini, former Minister of Justice Alberto Iribarne, and presidential precandidate Ricardo Alfonsín, between other personalities.

Tucumán Congress

Congress that reunited the representatives of the United Provinces of the Silver River in the present Argentine city of San Miguel de Tucumán. In the session of the 9 of July of 1816, presided by Francisco N. Laprida, it declared independence from the Spanish colonial power ("and from all other foreign domination").

The 2 of July of 1776, the Congress voted the national independence and the 4 of July approved the Declaration of Independence. Also it ordered to George Washington the recruitment of an army, approved the emission of paper money and created local governments.
